Why Triathlon

After getting serious about fitness in 2024, I started looking for a goal that would integrate different types of training. Triathlon — swim, bike, run — felt like the natural answer.

It also scared me a little. Which was a good sign.

The Three Disciplines

Swimming is the one I’ve had to work hardest at. Technique matters enormously; raw fitness gets you nowhere without it.

Cycling is where I’ve found the most flow. Long rides have a meditative quality — just you, the road, and your pace.

Running ties it all together. There’s nothing quite like the feeling of starting a run after already having swum and cycled — it strips away everything except what you’re made of.

Training

I train across all three disciplines weekly, working towards completing my first full triathlon. The multi-sport nature means the training itself is varied — no two days feel the same.

What It’s About

Triathlon isn’t really about speed. It’s about endurance. About staying consistent across disciplines, managing energy, and not falling apart when things get uncomfortable.

Those are skills worth having.
