I was part of the school basketball team throughout primary school. Playing competitive sport at a young age taught me the value of team cohesion, practice discipline, and performing under pressure. Basketball was my first real experience of working towards a shared goal with people who depended on you showing up ready.
Looking Back
Primary school was where I first learned that I was competitive — not in an ugly way, but in the sense of genuinely caring about doing things well. The PSLE was my first real high-stakes assessment, and navigating it taught me a lot about preparation, anxiety management, and keeping perspective.
AL9 isn't the highest possible score, but it was enough to get me into a school where I'd eventually find my feet — Swiss Cottage Secondary. In retrospect, I think where you end up matters far less than what you do once you get there.
